On May 5th, the Safe Kids Southeast Chapter greeted parents of children entering District 29 kindergarten classes this coming August as they came to the school for hearing and vision screenings. The coalition provided information about the proper use of belt-positioning booster seats and when children are ready to ride in a seat belt alone. Coalition representatives educated parents about safety vs. Nebraska's law. Materials given to parents included information about securing children of all ages in motor vehicles. Even some teachers stopped to request information to help them keep their own families safe in vehicles.

This new partnership was a big success, and the Safe Kids Southeast chapter has been invited to return with the activity next year. About 75% of incoming kindergartner's families were reached through this event.
